"I have admired many of my colleagues in the business but I would love to work with Robert De Niro - he is one of my heroes, and I have yet to work with someone of that calibre," the star said.

"He was the one who inspired me through films like Raging Bull and Taxi Driver. When I started doing movies, I would say, 'I want to be like that guy, he is so convincing'. I thought he was so powerful and so special."

A: (Laughs). Yes, only me and Robert De Niro have put on so much weight for a role in the history of motion pictures.

Q: Were you upset Puss in Boots has let himself go physically. He is really fat... and wears a pink ribbon.
A: I was not upset about the weight of the character.

I was upset about the pink ribbon (laughs). Q: What do you love most about Puss? A: The fact he is mischievous. I love the contrast in size between him and Shrek. Puss is so little. When we were first discussing what kind of character Puss should be, we wondered about his voice. Should it be a quiet voice to match his small body?

I've always been fascinated with the concept of marriage in Hollywood. I get that it's a different world, and people marry for different reasons exposure, money, fame or even to prove they're not gay, which is a bit bizarre when you think about it.

Sure, back in the 1930s, when Cary Grant shared a house with Randolph Scott, the notion that he might be gay would have had a major impact on his heartthrob status in the film industry.

But does it really matter in these modern times? I'll leave that for another pop-ed, but let's just ruminate on it for now.
