Antonio Banderas is set to star in a community oriented picture: Antonio Banderas is set to star in a collaborative film project entitled “Black Gold”The film will be distributed cooperatively by Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures and is the brainchild of Tarak Ben Ammar.

The film centers on warring Arabian tribes during the 1930s just as oil is being discovered across the Middle East. In the story a young leader comes forward to galvanize the various tribes of the desert to present a united front. Filming begins next week in Tunisia. Jean-Jacques Annaud will direct the project with Ammar producing. Warner Bros. will be in charge of distributing the picture in France, the UK, Latin America and the Middle East; while Universal will be in charge of distribution in Germany and Spain.
