FILM star Antonio Banderas revealed to children from Heage Primary School that his nickname when he was younger was Dumbo. The actor said he was named after the cartoon elephant in his school days because his ears stuck out.
Banderas was speaking to children via a weblink from a press conference in London. His Puss in Boots co-star Salma Hayek also answered questions from the Heage kids. The opportunity arose because the children involved are members of the UK-wide Film Club. A Film Club ambassador from another school put the Heage children’s questions to Banderas and Hayek at the press conference. Teacher Jenni Philbin said: “The children were really excited by it.”
