The Spanish animation movie "The Missing Lynx" is nominated to compete for the Oscar in 2010 after submitting the documentation required before completion of the period opened yesterday by the Academy of Hollywood.

The film, produced by Antonio Banderas and directed by Raul Garcia, opened in Los Angeles on Friday and will be in theaters for a week, minimum time required for possible selection from nominations for the statuettes.

Despite the lack of distribution and that the movie is showing in Spanish with English subtitles, "The Missing Lynx" found critical acclaim by the music press.  Variety deemed the film "a visual delight and an example of quality animation with Spanish label.

"The Missing Lynx" was awarded by the Spanish Film Academy in 2009 with the Goya award for best animated movie of the year after its national premiere in December 2008.

On Friday it will release the final number of animated films selected to enter the voting process for the next Oscar ceremony to be held on 7 March 2010.

Possible favorite figurines are "Up," "Ponyo" "The Princess and the Frog", "Coraline", "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," "Astro Boy," "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, "" Monsters vs. Aliens. Aliens "and" Planet 51 ", another production" made in Spain "to be released this month.  In the event that the Academy receives more than 15 films that qualify for this category, the total number of nominees in the face of the final choice would increase from 3 to 5.
