Malaga University has approved the appointment as honorary doctor of actor and director Antonio Banderas. During the faculty held yesterday at the Auditorium, AMU voted on the proposal to grant the honorary degree to Malaga, obtaining a favorable outcome.

Of the 82 monastic representatives who attended the meeting, among whom were teachers, students and members of the Administration and Services ", 71 gave its approval to the appointment of Banderas as honorary doctorates from the University of Malaga.

Thus, all procedures are completed and all that remains is to fix the time of the inauguration. An act that could be held in the spring of 2010, although a date will be set according to the actor's professional commitments.

The initiative to appoint honorary flags emerged from the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the Faculty of Communication Sciences last September as a way to recognize the extensive career of the actor. "It is the flagship of the Spanish cinema and the Latino actor par excellence in the United States", emphasized Carlos de las Heras, professor of that faculty which is responsible for defending the proposal in the cloister.
In this regard, De las Heras reviewed some of the achievements of flags throughout his career. These merit and earned him the appointment as honorary doctor by Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. And in addition to the UMA, the University of Veracruz (Mexico) has taken steps for this distinction on the proposal of Professor Julio Quesada Malaga.
Also, De las Heras hoped to establish a permanent link between the actor and UMA Málaga. "We want to be an honorary faculty that is part of an active, get involved and put the institution at the same place where he usually put his Malaga", said Professor of Communication.
